Adblock Plus and (a little) more

Adblock Plus Creative Challenge opened up for voting · 2013-06-07 16:21 by Wladimir Palant

Two months ago we launched the first ever Adblock Plus Creative Challenge. We challenged creatives all over the world to shoot a short film somehow related to Adblock Plus and bad online advertising practices. This was also often coined as the “Anti-Advertising Ad”. It has been an incredible success and starting today, you can vote on your favorite submission.

Submissions

We launched our contest on April 2nd, 2013, and had a relatively short submission period until May 31st. During these two months, we have received over 50 submissions, which was far beyond our wildest expectations. On the last day, we even got many filmmakers – often students – wanting a bit more time because they were not ready with their film. This overwhelming success led us to decide to push the deadline forward with a few days.

Now, the contest is officially closed, and we have received 72 submissions. It is amazing to see how creative all participants have been, and we have seen some awesome creations.

Voting

The winner of the video contest will be decided by 50% jury vote, and 50% community vote. We decided that next to our professional jury, we want to involve the community in choosing the best submission until June 30th. Therefore, we opened up all videos on the Creative Challenge website, so everybody can vote on their favorite video. The voting mechanism is very easy; share your favorite video to vote.

A big thanks

Last, but definitely not least, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who participated in our contest. The Adblock Plus team is incredibly thankful for everyone willing to invest time in this contest, and making it a success. We are confident that this contest is going to help spread the word about our amazing solution.

We cannot wait to announce the winner of the Creative Challenge on July 1st.

Theoretical question: if these anti-ads would show up somewhere as ads, would Adblock Plus block them? :)
