    Hallo Wladimir,

let me begin thanking you a lot for these extensions. The web is not the same since I found them a couple of years ago. Many, many thanks.

I have been wondering for a time… Why is ‘Element Hidding Helper’ not directly integrated in AdBlock Plus? Is there any particular reason to keep it as a different extension?
    Kindest regards!

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Mostly because it is easier to develop them as independent extensions. Also, the target audience of Element Hiding Helper is simply much more experienced, I wouldn’t want the regular Adblock Plus users to start playing around with element hiding rules – this can end pretty badly.

    Hallo Wladimir,

    your extension “Element Hiding Helper”
is very helpful for cleaning web pages
most often i use it to identify elements
to use later on with stylish extension,
for example finding element location like:
    html > body > tr + tr > div
for now I’m copying it manually from the
    “Compose element hiding rule” window
    my question is:
is it possible somehow to copy and past the
elements tree from the “Compose element hiding rule”
    window ?
then it will be very helpful for stylish as well

I have Firefox 3.0.1 and when I tried to install your program a message popped up saying it was not compatible and would not install. Did I do something wrong?

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

You should install from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/4364, then it will work.

There’s a minor issue with element hider. If you choose to hide an element based on a custom CSS rule, you have to prepend it with a space, because it automatically prepends what you write with a `*` element. I suggest removing the `*` and putting it by default in the custom CSS rule editbox or hinting the user to prepend their rule with `* `.

    Thanks,
    T

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Actually, that field is meant for a custom addition to the current selector – like “:not([foo])”. It is supposed to extend your current selection, not replace it.

    Dear Wladimir Palant,

Thank you (for providing the FF extension number 1).

In Gmail I would like to hide (permanently, or at least until Google changes the code / script again):

    a) [Invite a Friend]

    and

    b) [Chat]

I do want to keep [Labels] etc, which prevents me from using http://userstyles.org/styles/15583

I succeeded in temporarily hiding a) and b) for a day or a few hours with { Ctrl + Shift + K } – but they just keep coming back…

    ..~

    Hence,

    1) I think it would be good if in “Compose Element Hiding Rule” there was the option of hitting { Ctrl + A } or other to select all html parameters at once… maybe that would help ?

    2) do you have a (better) suggestion how to tackle this hiding issue ?

    Best wishes, many thanks

I noticed that since some time (several weeks most likely) rules, created by the element hiding helper hsve ceased to work on all my firefox instalation. All added elements are present in the filter list, when “select element to hide” menu option is used (for new or existing one) the elemet i select disapears, but on refresh or new load it apears again. Is this supposed to be so right now, or they may be conflict/bug to be hunted?

Currently i use AdblockPlus v 1.0.2 and v 1.0.5 of the helper under Debian’s IceWeasel 3.0.9 or Windows Firefox Portable 1.0.10.
