  • Added support for partial filter list updates in preparation for Manifest v3.
  • Fixed: CSP filters were ignored, if no domain was included in the filter’s URL pattern (ui#1138).
  • Fixed: Element hiding filter hits broke when an invalid CSS selector was used (ui#1471).

Snippet changes

Upgraded EWE to 1.1.1, which includes the following changes:

    Update 3.22 has slowed how fast web pages load by a lot. Images take even longer to load. Sometimes pages don’t load at all. Had to disable it. I’m using Chrome. Anyone else having this problem? Update 3.21.1 was fine. Hopefully it’s not a problem on my end. Is there a way to roll back the Update if anything? Thank you for all that you do.

    Thanks for spotting that problem and for reporting it to us. We’re slowly getting similar reports from a few other users, so it does appear to be some problem with one of the changes included in version 3.22. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to reproduce the problem ourselves yet, but we’ve created https://gitlab.com/adblockinc/ext/adblockplus/adblockplusui/-/issues/1576 to keep track of it to help us find the problem and develop a fix for it.

    In general, any additional information on this could be helpful, so I’d suggest contacting support@adblockplus.org, if you’d like to help us with that.

    Also finding noticeably slower loading on 3.22 with Firefox.

    We’re currently working on a fix for Adblock Plus 3.22.1, but it may take a few days to get through the Firefox extension store review. In the meantime, you can disable Adblock Plus on those websites where you experience problems.

    @Thomas Greiner

    The issue can be mitigated with stronger processors, so try testing on a weaker system, the problem at hand is that the extension (on Chromium atleast) is having extreme CPU spikes on very particular sites, I have replicated the issues on ubereats, mangadex, youtube, i’ve been told on discord that it is also occuring on fansly, onlyfans and nhentai as well.

    on mangadex and ubereats, i noted that EastList+Private, and then Fanboys notifications, socials and the anti cv filters all contribute to the cpu usage blowing out to the extreme, Many on reddit are assuming this is Googles fault when its actually ABP blowing out the initial page load, and transition times by choking the rest of the browser with a 100% loaded ABP process.

    Thanks for the additional details. We were able to find out what’s causing this and worked on a fix for Adblock Plus 3.22.1, which has been published yesterday and should reach all users within the next few days. In the meantime, you can disable Adblock Plus on those websites where you experience problems.

    The problem is caused by a change that was made in Adblock Plus 3.22 that affects dynamic websites, if a large amount of filters are being used.

    Same Guest as above. Firefox 3.22 version. I am getting the delays that seem to be related to image loading like JT also. For example, just right clicking and opening a photo in a new tab on Yelp causes a 10+ second delay in just loading the single image. Google Maps is unusable given the constant image loading each time moving the map with each action taking a minute plus.

    The computer is older like mentioned by Squall Leonhart. Never had any slow loading or these issues until 3.22.

    Have same problem with Ubuntu 20.04 with Intel i7 11th gen with Xe graphics. Brave Search and DuckDuckGo Search very slow. Bing Maps has 10 sec latency when switching to satellite view. Slow on radar map on weatherbug.com when resizing image. Thank you for looking for the problem.
