Install Adblock Plus 2.6.5 for Firefox

Changes

  • Fixed: Element hiding exceptions are broken by changes in Firefox 34 and Firefox 35 (issue 1241, issue 1381).
  • Fixed: Blocking via context menu won’t always suggest blocking the most recent request (issue 362).
  • Fixed: Issue reporter will complain about too many filter lists even when these filter lists are “special” like the anti-adblock list (issue 690).
  • Fixed: Disabling filters via space bar no longer works in preferences (issue 1129).
  • Fixed: Sharing Adblock Plus from the first-run page won’t work if the Anti-Social list is enabled (issue 1133).
  • Fixed: Anti-Adblock warning will sometimes appear on websites without any anti-adblock behavior (issue 1161).
  • Made $sitekey option behavior more consistent, it can be used similarly to $domain now rather than whitelisting complete websites only (issue 432).

Download does not work. Your website still offers version 2.6.4 for downloading:

    https://adblockplus.org/en/firefox

    What’s wrong with that?

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Fixed for now. The download link wasn’t being updated for some reason, not yet sure about the reason.

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Actually, I think I know what happened. Filed https://issues.adblockplus.org/ticket/1483, thank you.

Up until recently I have been able to stream my favorite shows on CBS.com without commercial interruption using AdBlocker Plus. I would start the streaming content with the blocker off and then turn on the blocker after the 1st set of ads and it would block the rest. Something seems to have changed inn the past week. I now get a message when on their site that says it couldn’t load an ad and if I had a blocker turned on I would need to shut it off to continue viewing content. Any chance you computer wizards inadvertently made a change with the last rev that would cause that or can you work around that?

Please tell me how I can click on a pop up and it will disappear and not come back again in the same webpage or website.

You see, there are pop ups from websites which I am viewing like news websites or aggressive marketing websites, they have pop ups which can get through whatever filters I install (besides, it is really hard to understand how the filters work to block adds or to exempt them from being blocked); if you have a feature by which as soon as a pop up gets in (not just preventing it from getting in), I will just click on it and it will disappear and not come back anymore.

That is the feature that will remove persistent pop ups, because ad blockers usually just prevent pop ups to get in, but ad blockers do not know all the pop ups they are programmed to prevent from sneaking in.

That is the best pop ups blocker if there is one (so produce one), namely, that it removes the pop up when the pop up manages to successfully get through the ad blocker.

It’s like this: you put up all kinds of walls to stop a thief from getting into your home, just the same some thief will manage to get in; so, no worry you just shoot him and he disappears altogether and not return again and again.

Hope you get what I am saying, please get that feature available in your ad blocker.
