Adblock Plus and (a little) more

Element Hiding Helper: Release candidate · 2007-01-18 01:47 by Wladimir Palant

A new development build of the Element Hiding Helper extension (0.9+.2007011800) has been uploaded. This is a release candidate for Element Hiding Helper 1.0, first localizations should be available soon.

Installation

https://adblockplus.org/devbuilds/

Changes

  • Added options “first child” and “last child” to list of attributes
  • Added extensions. adblockplus. ehh. showhelp preference to allow disabling automatic help tooltip (pressing H still brings it up when this option is set to false)
  • Added warning if Element Hiding Helper is installed but Adblock Plus is not there or version is older than 0.7.2.3 (Firefox 2.0 and higher checks dependencies automatically)

Known issues

  • View source tooltip’s position/size is influenced by other tooltips
  • Frame around inline elements broken into multiple lines has wrong position/size
  • Preview feature doesn’t work in Thunderbird/Mozilla Mail
  • Upper case letters aren’t accepted as hotkeys when selecting an element

    No it doesn’t :-\

    I get a find-as-you-type search for “H” in SM 1.1

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Oops, it doesn’t accept upper-case letters. Fixed, thanks for catching this.

Uh… the issue is bigger, I only tested the ‘H’ key before: The hotkeys don’t work at all for me, neither upper or lower case. All my keypresses go directly into search-as-you-type.

This seems to be due to me setting extensions.adblockplus.ehh.showhelp to false – when I switch it back to true, everything works fine again.

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Found it – there was some initialization code that would only run when the help box is shown. I didn’t test starting the browser with this setting off, that’s why I didn’t notice it. Fixed, thanks again.
