Adblock Plus and (a little) more
Some impressive statistics [updated] · 2006-08-07 20:33 by Wladimir Palant
I looked at the site statistics for the first time since adblockplus.org went live. The traffic in July exceeded my expectations by far and makes me already worry about the traffic limit. We got almost a million page requests which translates into 80 thousands visitors — more than 4 thousands on some days ( Update: these stats are now for adblockplus.org only, without easylist.adblockplus.org).
Quite sursprisingly one major traffic consumer is Rick’s EasyList (Rick’s old EasyList homepage is still online and serving the same subscription which isn’t covered in my stats). Even if we assume that all subscribers download it daily the download numbers translate into over 40000 subscribers. My congratulations to Rick!
Update: I was asked about Rick’s EasyElement filter list — according to logs it has somewhat over 500 subscribers (at least on adblockplus.org).

WOW, I know it’s the best filterset for my needs. Easy to edit if I need to, but yet very fast (thanks to adblock plus). Good work to both Rick and Wladimir Palant!!

Hey there,
I think if you include both the EasyList and the EasyElement Filter List as default into the ABP startup wizard (Filter-subscription list), then we will see many many more subscribers as the currently 500 for these list.
best regards,

Reply from Wladimir Palant:
Element hiding has some issues at the moment, the major one being that it doesn’t respect whitelisting. As long as this isn’t solved I’m not going to recommend EasyElement.
