Wouldn’t it be a good idea to have EHH as an integral part of ABP? I believe EHH really enhances ABP’s user-friendliness, and I don’t see why it should stay an independent plug-in. :)

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

I have to disagree, as usually. EHH is a nice add-on, but it is targeted at more advanced users than ABP.

IMO you should create an option “Enable EHH in context menu” – switched off by default – in the options menu, maybe with a info this is for exprienced users and creating advanced rules. Users who don’t care about configuration won’t activate it and ‘advanced users’ don’t have to bother with 2 extensions.

Advanced users already have to download 20+ extensions; what’s one more? Leave the bloat out for people who don’t need it.

It looks like rules for EHH, like anekdot.ru#TD(class=righcolumn)
not work, if it loaded via subscription.
How element hiding rules can be distributed via subscription lists?

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

They work just fine from subscriptions, why do you think that they don’t?

I vote (if it is ever possible) for integrating element hiding helper into adblock plus. I am user of K-Meleon and with integrated EHH I could use it in K-Meleon.

EHH is very nice.I would like it to be part of Adblock plus but it’s not so important. But I would really like an easier way to hide objects.I always have to go on Adblock icon on the toolbar and select the command;if i could select objects like for images and links,it would be better. (i mean with right-click menu on the object)

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Yes, I would prefer that as well – but objects are not like images or links. They are a “black hole” inside the browser that the browser cannot do anything with. In particular, Adblock Plus doesn’t get any information on the position of the mouse if the mouse is inside the object. Sometimes Adblock Plus can display a “Block” tab on the object, but this doesn’t wort all the time either.

Before using EHH i used Remove it Permanently.Even if it’s worse than EHH,it has a very simple way to select and hide elements.

element hider stopped working when I upgraded to Mac OSX 10.5 Any solution?

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

It has nothing to do with the operating system, only with your browser. If you post a detailed description of what “stopped working” means in the forum and which Firefox version you use, you should get help.

    I am using:

    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080311 Firefox/2.0.0.13

    with a new computer.

In this case, what do I mean by “stopped working?”

On my previous computer, all of the adblock add-ons worked without problem. Now, I have no “hide element” functions at all and it is impossible to “set preferences”; the button does not work. I also no longer have the adblock icon next to the url window.

Wondering about a conflict with another add-on/extension, I disabled all of them and had only the adblock, adblock filter. and element add-ons enabled. No change. I reinstalled the adblock add-ons. No Change.

The add-ons work on my windows laptop.

I no longer have my previous Mac to further isolate the variables between my previous ibook, g4, OSX 10.4

I wanted to suggest a couple things, but it seems on has already been shot down. integrating EHH into ABP as an option in the ABP preferences panel. as ABP is 228kb and adding in EHH is only another 37kb (probably less once any redundant code is weeded out), I really don’t believe the code bloat argument. it’s not that important that it is integrated, but is it possible that integrating it could fix the problem with EHH not displaying when using certain other FF plugins (I can’t think of which ones do it right now, sorry).

the other suggestion is, when using EHH, that it blocks keystrokes and mouse clicks from triggering the webpage behind it. keystrokes are a particular hiccup with Yahoo! mail for me so far. pressing “N” to narrow the tag field also triggers Yahoo! mail to create a ‘n’ew message, navigating you away from the page you’re trying to make a filter rule on. mouse clicks I’ve only had a problem with a few sites, when clicking to accept a rule, it instead follows the link. is it possible to maybe set a slightly transparent (1/255 alpha at least) PNG over the entire webpage while EFF is doing it’s thing?
