Adblock Plus and (a little) more

Adblock Plus 1.3 for IE released · 2014-12-15 16:43 by Oleksandr Paraska

Install Adblock Plus 1.3 for Internet Explorer

Since our last release for Internet Explorer we were very much focused on improving quality of ad blocking and hiding. Hence version 1.3 fixes a lot of issues where ABP for IE either incorrectly blocked a request, or falsely allowed the request through, when it shouldn’t have. We are quite happy with the result, and hope you’ll notice the improvement as well.

If you are interested in a bit more details, here is the list of changes that are included in Adblock Plus 1.3 for Internet Explorer

Changes

  • General blocking improvements (issue 1265):
    • Improved detection of mime types
    • Added support for XMLHttpRequests
    • Added support for requests from Flash
    • Improved detection of a referrer of a request.
  • Fix element hiding on some sites (issue 1148)
  • Fix incorrect blocking of video content on some sites (issue 1231)
  • Block video ads where they weren’t blocked before (issue 1500)
  • Fix “Navigation canceled” messages if IFRAME is blocked (issue 1264)
  • Fix version string in Add/Remove programs (issue 1222)
  • Changes in the First Run Page (issue 1230, issue 1356)

Thanks for the long-awaited update for AdBlock Plus for IE. When will we finally get the ability to block social media buttons and websites with malware? This feature is already available on Chrome and Firefox.

Having several issues with it not updating after you say “Yes” to the update prompt. The prompt just goes away and nothing happens thereafter.

Manual install of the updated version works.

Thanks for your work on AdBlock Plus for Internet Explorer. I just learned about it last week and now there is already an updated version. IE11 just seems so much faster than the other browsers, I’m glad that AdBlock Plus is now available for it… keep up the good work!

I really am just wondering, if this version of ABP for IE would be able to accommodate more than one filter subscription just like the versions we use for Firefox and Chrome, and maybe even Opera! I’ve already installed this on my IE11, but it seems to me that the feature that I am looking for, is not available yet, well unless, you have some other tricks to teach…, I am waiting…

    Hmmm

Why isn’t there any user interface with adblockplus 1.3 for IE11. The only reason I can think of is that you are hiding spyware and malware. This can be in the form of options, which of course we cannot access, which are set to allow everything we do sent to you and advertisers. Bad business boys. In fact you are going to be out of business if you don’t pay attention to your user base.
