Adblock Plus and (a little) more

Redundant filter finder updated · 2010-06-12 02:56 by Wladimir Palant

I updated the tool to find useless filters, the new version uses new code from Adblock Plus and better considers filter options. Element hiding rules are left unchanged as before — I am not aware of any way to detect redundancies there. Please report any abnormalities you notice in the new version, there might still be bugs.

The new page doesn’t work. After accessing the page via FF 2.0.0.20 (doesn’t support js version 1.7?) I also tried loading the page using the current version of Opera, as well as the SEIron browser.

FWIW, as soon as the page loads (regardless whether anything has been pasted into the textarea) the FF error console reports:

Error: missing { before function body
    Source File: http://adblockplus.org/FilterClasses.jsm
    Line: 30, Column: 26
    Source Code: getString: function(id) id

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

This is code directly from then Adblock Plus extension – it requires Firefox 3.0 or higher, other browsers won’t work (probably not even Firefox 2 which is ancient). I don’t want to change the code to make it compatible with other browsers, it might get out of sync with Adblock Plus again otherwise.
