Install Adblock Plus 2.7.2 for Firefox

This release works around some obscure Firefox bugs which Adblock Plus has been triggering since Adblock Plus 2.7 release (visible for example as issue 3489, issue 3541, bug 1127744).

Additional changes

• Closed a pop-up blocking loophole misused by some websites (issue 3568).
• Fixed tooltip display for very long filters (issue 1950).

   With this latest update some advertisements are not blocked :(

   Would you consider adding a setting accessible in about:config to count filter hits in private browsing mode also?

   I doubt that. Usually people using private browsing mode have a good reason to do it.

   I’m having the same problem as user #1, some ads are now not blocked, like on gmail or facebook

   Concerning Facebook, an issue with EasyList Italy filter list was identified apparently. Otherwise, my answer to user #1 applies to you as well ;)

   An about:config setting wouldn’t interfere unless one deliberately wanted that ability would it? One can then still clear filter hits within Adblock Plus under filter actions.

   No, people tend to change settings in about:config and forget about them. We would create a massive footgun here, there is no (good) way of reminding you: “Hey, two years ago you changed that obscure setting and private browsing is no longer private for you. Do you still want that?”

   Wladimir is right.

   - Dont give about config access to counter in private modus.

   - There are no problems with blocking, it’s your filters

   Will firefox ever get the same design as adblock plus on chrome?

   We are working on a redesigned options UI, eventually that one should be shared between Chrome and Firefox. It isn’t easy however, the current Firefox UI as tons of functionality.

   Hello,
   when you use Tor Browser(=Firefox,javascript disabled) to try downloading Adblock Plus from your site with right-click->‘save Link As’ https://update.adblockplus.org/latest/adblockplusfirefox.xpi
   you get a 0 byte file. I DON’T want INSTALL the extension, cant drop this silly install dialog.
   The same on addons.mozilla.org W T F

   Can you try setting a direct file link to the addons.mozilla.org site with refer to your original site attached at the name of the URL, like other famous extension site do? Seems to be working, yet….. .
   Or direct from your site?

   Strange things the Mozilla Corp do to have tight control?

   If you cannot download on addons.mozilla.org either then the problem isn’t on our end. I can download both so I suspect that there is some mess-up with the SSL configuration in Tor Browser.

   Either way, https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-media/addons/1865/adblock_plus-2.7.2-an+tb+sm+fx.xpi is where AMO currently redirects to. You can also get our build (not signed by Mozilla) from https://downloads.adblockplus.org/adblockplus-2.7.2.xpi.

   UPDATE:downloading Adblock Plus from your site with right-click is working. Hope on addons…..,too.

   Have test some configs aaaand …….get it(-:
   security.csp.enable:false .
   A logical download dialog with warning in firefox would be nice.

   When i set security.csp.enable:false, right-click->‘save Link As’ https://update.adblockplus.org/latest/adblockplusfirefox.xpi , the download is coming from https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-media/addons/1865/adblock_plus-2.7.2-an+tb+sm+fx.xpi .

   But Mozilla shouldn’t deny a normal download by default, my opinion.

   Mozilla doesn’t deny them, Content Security Policy doesn’t affect downloads. What you are using isn’t Firefox however…

   Adblock Plus 2.7.2 on addons.mozilla.org, the site is saying
   984kb.
   Real filesize is 991kb/990kb. Difference?

   The size of the original (unsigned) build is 984,034 bytes – that’s what AMO is showing apparently.

    Yep, you are right. It’s Tor Browser, “based on Mozilla Firefox…”.
