Adblock Plus and (a little) more
Element Hiding Helper: Getting closer · 2007-01-09 00:11 by Wladimir Palant
A new development build of the Element Hiding Helper extension (0.9+.2007010823) has been uploaded. This extension is meant to make creating element hiding rules easier, the code to select the element has been adopted from the Aardvark extension. Adblock Plus 0.7.2.3 or higher is required, browser requirements are the same as for Adblock Plus. This extension is still in the early development stages and some features of the final version are missing.

Changes
- Advanced filter composition mode mostly implemented (attributes of parent/sibling nodes can be used, entering custom CSS selector parts is possible)
What needs to be done
- A way to specify which part of the attribute should be used
- Warning if Element Hiding Helper is installed but Adblock Plus is not there (Firefox 2.0 and higher does it automatically)
- “View source” function from Aardvark
- Preview of the filter’s effects
- Apply the filter to the current window immediately, without a reload

Will the user be able to select the shortcut keys in later versions of this new tool or even add a toolbar/status bar button to invoke this feature.
I like this so far. Excellent job once again.
Reply from Wladimir Palant:
That should work already – Ctrl+Shift+H by default, extensions.adblockplus.ehh-selectelement_key preference to define your own (works the same as for extensions.adblockplus.sidebar_key).
