We will be releasing Adblock Plus 1.3.6 soon, the current development build (Adblock Plus 1.3.6rc.2951) is a release candidate. There has been a number of changes since Adblock Plus 1.3.5:

  • “Recommend us on Facebook” button can now be easily hidden (a cross button next to it)
  • Improved display of web addresses in Adblock Plus user interface for right-to-left languages (Hebrew, Arabic).
  • New translation: Esperanto
  • Fixed: Some routers are broken by Do Not Track header.
  • Fixed: Redirect blocking feature has a negative impact on memory management in Firefox.
  • Fixed: Adblock Plus user interface is broken in Thunderbird and SeaMonkey Mail if a non-default window layout is used.
  • Fixed: Issue reporter claims “too many filter subscriptions” even if the subscriptions are disabled.
  • Fixed: Flash is broken in outdated Firefox 3.6.x versions (up to Firefox 3.6.12).
  • Fixed: Middle-clicking ABP icon has seemingly no effect if Adblock Plus is disabled on the page.

Known issues

  • Redirect blocking no longer works in Firefox Mobile 4 (bug 646373).

Is there a bug # for this? I’m interested what kind of negative impact was it to see if it’s related to a problem I was trying to debug recently.

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Yes, though that bug is a little of a mess: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=645678

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

Sorry, wrong bug linked originally, bug 645678 is the one. What I fixed is channels holding references to DOM nodes, not the part about too many objects present (which has little impact in Firefox 4 anyway).

Wladimir, thanks for the pointer! This might be relevant to my problem indeed.

ugh i hate facebook and cant believe its not an aprils fool joke they put a fb button in abp

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

This button only shows up for people who have the Facebook cookie (logged into Facebook at some point). Anyway, as you can read from the changelog – hiding that button will be easy in the next release.

Minor issue: – The Facebook button spawns a new window whose titlebar is off my screen (it’s way too high and left). I had to go to the Windows taskbar, right click the window, select Move, and move with arrowkeys. Might be specific to my machine.

Thanks for fixing the GC issue!

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

At least I hope it is specific to your machine – I’m not setting the coordinates of this window, it should use the defaults for pop-up windows.

Well… I think it might be related to Tab Mix Plus, though I’m not 100% sure. I clicked the little ‘x’ next to the facebook icon (whose tooltip, by the way, erroneously said “Close blockable items”), and now I don’t know how to get the facebook button back. How do I get it back? I would expect to see it in Preferences, but don’t.

Also, if the ABP icon is on the same row as the Back/Forward buttons, I think a restart of the browser has it too big and it distorts the size of those Back/Forward buttons. If I go to Customize, and toggle “Use small icons” on and then off.. the issue corrects itself, until I restart the browser.

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

No, this Facebook button is a one-time thing – clobbering up the preferences for it is clearly not worth it. Easiest way to restore it is renaming localstore.rdf file in your Firefox profile when Firefox is not running. This will reset all your user interface preferences, later you can rename that file back.

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

PS: Icon size is this Firefox bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=640158. And it is also related to user interface preferences stored in your localstore.rdf file.

    Fair enough. Thanks for explaining!
    Looking forward to release!
