Adblock Plus and (a little) more

Important note: From now on, updates for development builds will be found automatically, it is no longer necessary to install them manually every time. Also, development builds will be created automatically once per day (night) if changes are found in the repository. Changelogs for all builds are also generated automatically and can be found in the directory of the development build (to view the changelog click “Show information” when Firefox offers you an update). This means that the announcements here are no longer necessary, they will only be posted for important builds.
The development build 1.1alpha.0+.2009071001 is the first release candidate for Adblock Plus 1.1. So far the known issues are:
- Subscription list on first run in Thunderbird: entire mail window is closed when clicking “Subscribe” (bug 503299)
- SeaMonkey: Toolbar button looks ugly with the Modern theme (Modern theme doesn’t allow properly adding buttons other than the ones coming with SeaMonkey)
- About dialog: version number is vertically misaligned in Firefox nightlies

This version further improves the way Adblock Plus works in SeaMonkey 2.0 and Thunderbird 3.0 nightly builds.
Known issues
- Subscription list on first run in Thunderbird: entire mail window is closed when clicking “Subscribe” (bug 503299)
- SeaMonkey: Toolbar button looks ugly with the Modern theme (Modern theme doesn’t allow properly adding buttons other than the ones coming with SeaMonkey)

This version has been tested in Thunderbird 3.0 nightly builds and seems to work fine there.
Changes
- Clearing browsing history in Firefox now clears hit statistics in Adblock Plus as well, can be disabled with the hidden

Known issues
“Block image” context menu item isn’t always availablePreferences: After clicking “Apply” changes to the status of a subscription are no longer displayed

Element hiding rules and background images can disappear from list of blockable items after a whileToolbar button is dysfunctional after being added to toolbar via Customize dialog

Update: The original development build (2009062508, source code revision eae534acf07a) calculated tab positions incorrectly and was replaced.
The improvements to “Tabs on Flash and Java” feature should be complete now. Feel free to provide feedback in the forum.
Note: Adblock Plus 1.1 is feature-complete now. No more features will be added, string freeze starts now. Some stability work still remains before the release however.

The improvements to “Tabs on Flash and Java” feature are highly experimental and still work in progress. Feel free to provide feedback in the forum.

This development build is almost feature complete now, further Adblock Plus 1.1 development will focus on stability rather than features. Still possible features: a context menu entry to revert “Disable this filter on example.com” and object tab improvements.

This development build is almost feature complete now, further Adblock Plus 1.1 development will focus on stability rather than features.

- Blockable items: Added “Disable this filter on example.com” context menu item for user-defined filters (adds the required $domain option)
- Fixed: webpages can easily detect “Collapse blocked elements” option
- Fixed: “Disabled on …” doesn’t work correctly with rules that already exist in filter subscriptions

This development build was tested in Songbird, Prism and SeaMonkey’s browser component. Thunderbird and SeaMonkey Mail still need to be tested.
Changes
- Dropped compatibility with old browsers and cleaned up the code, now requiring at least: Firefox 3.0.9, SeaMonkey 2.0b1, Thunderbird 3.0b3, Songbird 1.2b1, Prism 1.0b1
- Moved all application-specific code to the overlay file corresponding with that application
- Blockable items: Creating a filter for an item matching a disabled exception rule is possible again (forum topic)
- Preferences: insert imported and pasted comments before the filter that follows them (forum topic, forum topic)
- Preferences: fixed a scenario where the same filter might appear twice in the list
- Fixed: “Disabled on …” doesn’t work correctly if the exception rule already exists but is disabled
- Fixed: Toolbar icon doesn’t show up in SeaMonkey 2.0
- Fixed: ABP fails to initialize itself in Prism
- Fixed: Indentation of some menu items of the toolbar icon’s menu too large in Songbird
- Fixed: Adding a filter subscription in Preferences that redirects to a different address causes download failure
