Adblock Plus and (a little) more

User stylesheets to apply immediately - fixed · 2006-06-18 20:22 by Wladimir Palant

This is great news: bug 335689 has been fixed. This means that in current trunk nightlies stylesheets registered via the stylesheet service will apply to already loaded documents, not just to those that will be loaded after the change. In particular for Adblock Plus this means that element hiding rules will apply immediately without requiring a page reload.

The change has been checked in on the Gecko trunk, meaning that we will see it in Firefox 3.0 and SeaMonkey 1.5. There was some discussion in the bug on whether this should be checked in on 1.8.1 branch (Firefox 2.0, SeaMonkey 1.1) as well but so far the decision seems to be negative.

It makes tinkering with Stylish delightful as well. You might want to update your article (and all others) with links for trunk, nightly, branch, etc to a page explaining the differences and how the application one downloads from getfirefox.com fits into the vocab.

    I’m not kidding.

    Reply from Wladimir Palant:

No, I am not going to suggest people to use nightly builds. Whoever wants to help testing Firefox will find them, regular users should never use them.
