Adblock Plus and (a little) more

My issues with adblockplus.org didn’t get magically resolved. While Netdepot was able to reactivate the domain once the performance issues were resolved, they didn’t feel like overlooking my exorbitant traffic use (>120 GB on an account with 10 GB traffic limit) any more. At which point it is time to say goodbye to Netdepot who generously provided me with free hosting for the past seven years and always helped me patiently with my issues. For a project of this size, it is better not to rely on somebody’s good will any more.

So I set up a new server for Adblock Plus, it seems to be working perfectly so far. I have to move to it until the end of the month so I will kick off domain transfer and hope that there will be no delays. If everything goes well, the downtime will be no more than a few hours (I have to set the new site in maintenance mode to re-synchronize databases once everybody is on the new server). Main issue is that I will go on vacation on June 1st, not the best thing to do just after moving to a new server.

Update (2008-05-22): The move is complete, new server is up and running (though it will take some time until all DNS caches expire). If you notice any issues with the website don’t hesitate to tell me.

   off the subject entirely, will you ever return to GT-Chat development? There are a few things I’d love to see in a new release.

   I need to uninstall Adblocker Plus and I’m having quite a problem doing so. I thought I would give it a try with my system but I am not well versed enough with computers to know how to use it along with what I already have as a pop up blocker that was working fine for me before. Please e mail me and let me know how to go about getting it off. It does not show up in my Control Panel, so I believe it is an application. Am I correct?

   Please keep it going! Is there anyway I could help as a way to appreciate your service? Dude it’s been my Have-to-install-firefox-addon for the past(I forgot how long I’ve been using this, *(lol)
   Everytime I do a format on my comp and reinstall firefox, your site is my 2nd hop after typing “firefox addon adblock plus” for the string in google.com
   Btw is there anyway I could intergrate your string with my :} router/firewall, do you have a recommendation *(lol) If not, I mean YOU SHOULD man, they should make one that could intergrate with your service :> I see LinkSYS router could provide DynDNS as an optional service in the router settings, I don’t see a problem if they just include your service, I bet that will be the most bought router for home use in ALL TIMES *(lol)
