Thanks to the open source community making new ad filters, plus an update to ABP for Chrome and Opera, you can block ads on Facebook again … for now. We don’t suspect Facebook will back down from its stance against content blockers — not just ABP, but all of them — and the people who want to use them.

This release features improvements to the emulation filters, which allow to block ads on Facebook again. It also includes some bug fixes and changes under the hood.
Changes
- Properly handle hiding emulation in dynamically generated content (issue 5000 and 5438).
- Properly select the element when selecting pseudo-elements style properties in hiding emulation filters (issue 5339).
- Fixed some issue with
:-abp-has()
(issue 5436 and 5422). - Fixed an issue that caused added custom filters to show up twice in the options (issue 4978).
- Improved user notifications (issue 5558, 5460 and 5459).

A while ago we announced our plan to migrate to the Web Extensions platform. With the current Firefox nightly builds being incompatible to classic add-ons already, we need to move a bit prematurely. So starting with Adblock Plus 2.99.0.1814 development build, our development builds will be using the Web Extensions platform. If you are on Firefox 57, make sure to install the latest Adblock Plus development build and it will be working again.

We just received news that the appellate court in Munich, Germany decided in favor of Adblock Plus and eyeo in three separate cases brought by RTL Interactive, ProSiebenSat.1 and Süddeutsche Zeitung. Each case was an appeal, so this is the second time in each case (see here and here for the first times) that the court has ruled against them and in favor of users.
